NJSBN invited to attend Governor’s bill signing ceremony

Two clean energy bills signed into law

On August 22nd, NJSBN Executive Director, Rebecca Lubot, was honored to accept an invitation to attend New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s bill signing ceremony.

Together, the signing into law of two landmark pieces of legislation, S4530/A5768 and A5267/S4289, signaled an expansion of New Jersey’s clean energy programs, a goal of the New Jersey Sustainable Business Network’s work in the State House.

S4530/A5768 directs the Board of Public Utilities to expand NJ’s community solar program by an additional 3,000 megawatts (MW). As a result of this law, 450,000 more residents, many of them low-income, will have access to solar. A5267/S4289 establishes a new incentive program to reach one of the most ambitious storage targets in the nation: 2,000 MW of transmission-scale energy storage by 2030. (Pictured with the Governor is one of the bill’s primary sponsors, Deputy Assembly Speaker Wayne DeAngelo.)

Increasing the amount of solar and storage on the grid will lower energy costs and will ensure that more NJ businesses and residents have access to clean and reliable sources of energy.
