By Jan. 5: Join businesses in urging Senate to protect clean water infrastructure essential to economic stability

Following the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of H.R. 3898, the “PERMIT Act,” on December 11, 2025, the American Sustainable Business Network (ASBN) and the thousands of business leaders it collectively represents are intensifying their call for the Senate to reject the legislation and urging the EPA to strengthen – not weaken – protections in its proposed Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule.

Here’s how we stop Big Tech from raising our electric bills | Opinion

“Data centers must pay full price for the energy they use and for any required upgrades to the grid. And the utility companies that profit at our expense must invest their excessive profits into clean energy projects we will all benefit from. This is how we make electricity affordable for New Jersey.

With more clean energy and by holding big corporations accountable, we can lower our energy bills, create thousands of new good-paying jobs, and make sure our kids breathe cleaner air.”

NJSBN issues statement on proposed development

“Sustainable businesses urge West Orange to preserve Watchung Mountain Second Ridge to prevent the degradation of drinking water and the increased possibility of severe flooding,” commented Rebecca C. Lubot, Ph.D., M.Sc., Executive Director of the New Jersey Sustainable Business Network. “In a recently published op-ed, the New Jersey Sustainable Business Network explained that both the federal government and insurance companies have made it clear that mitigating flood risk now lies solely in the hands of state, county, and local governments. The preservation of this last core forest in densely populated Essex County is more important than ever to bolster businesses’ resilience.”

NJSBN attends “Powering the Future” event

NJSBN attended the recent “Powering the Future” event hosted by Jersey Renews. The conference’s theme iterated by keynote speaker Dan Fatton, the New Jersey Economic Development Agency’s Director of Clean Energy, was that “offshore wind is not dead.”

Please sign onto these comments by responding directly to Rebecca Lubot at rebecca@njsbnetwork.org with name, title and organizational title.

The comment’s broad thrust is to support the previous and proposed new RGGI investments, but to strongly oppose the ratepayer relief initiative that the NJBPU is strongly pushing for. These are high level comments but we have heard directly that it is crucial that there is broad pushback to this initiative from multiple different sectors.

Stop excluding small business owners from Truth in Lending protections!

We’re seeing billions of dollars of financing to small businesses, charging APRs of 50% to 350% or more, without those prices ever being disclosed. New Jersey must protect small businesses by passing a law requiring financing companies to disclose transparent prices to NJ business owners.
